FIBAA has dedicated its work to the process launched by the "Bologna Conference" and the follow-up conferences of the responsible national ministries. In each accreditation procedure, FIBAA takes international guidelines as well as national or - where appropriate - state-specific requirements into account.

International Documents for Programme Accreditation
FIBAA accredits study programmes not only according to the national quality standards but also according to the international documents as Standrads and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the european Higher Education Areas, Equal - European MBA-Guidelines, Joint Quality Initiative (JQI), Dublin Descriptors and Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region (Lisbon Recognition Convention) (from 11.04.1997).

Requirements for the accreditation of study programmes in Switzerland
In Switzerland, only universities of applied sciences require accreditation of their study programmes.
Accreditation of study programmes offered by Swiss universities of applied sciences is subject to the requirements of the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, the recommendations of the Conference of Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences, the Guidelines of the Swiss Conference of Cantonal Ministers of Education and the Federal Act on Universities of Applied Sciences.

Requirements for the accreditation of study programmes in Austria
In Austria, only private universities require accreditation. Accreditation of study programmes offered by Austrian private universities are subject to the Austrian University Accreditation Act and the guidelines of the Austrian Accreditation Council.

The new Higher Education Institutions Quality Assurance Act was adopted at the session of the Austrian National Council of 6 July 2011. This act reorganises the system of external quality assurance at Austrian higher education institutions. This act establishes procedures for quality assurance and their basic conditions applicable to the entire higher education system. The Higher Education Institutions Quality Assurance Act has entered into force on 1st March, 2012, and is available (only in German) here.
